cupcakes sold.

remember when i told you i was making cupcakes for a student group on campus for a fundraiser? well, i did it!

my students were excited when m and i delivered the cupcakes to the event. they said they were really cute, which was what i was going for.

four cupcakes were already sold before the start of the event, and there i was with my big goofy smile so happy that people would buy something i made.

i baked my standby cupcake recipes: red velvet cupcakes with cream cheese frosting and chocolate cupcakes with vanilla buttercream. i tried a new recipe this time: strawberry cupcakes with cream cheese frosting.

the strawberry cupcakes weren’t as strawberry-flavored as i was hoping, so i’m going to try that recipe again before i share it with you all.

the proceeds of the cupcakes went to hope2o international. i was thrilled to have this opportunity to help raise money for such a great cause. if you haven’t checked out this organization, make sure you do!

100th POST: strawberry freeze.

i would do you a disservice to complete my 100th post and not have a beverage to cheers with. the weather has finally cooled off in boston. but, if you’re like me, any reason will do to make a cool, refreshing blended beverage. what better reason than my 100th post.

vacation state of mind.

it has been a while.

i said i would update after my maine adventure. it never happened. maine was delicious. i had all things blueberry, including blueberry soda and blueberry ice cream. m and i discovered this and added this cookbook to the collection.

i went to cape cod the following weekend with plans to see the fireworks. too bad it was cloudy. so, fireworks were abandoned. but, i still had a blast hanging capeside.

after that, i have no excuses.
except that i’ve been in that vacation state of mind.

i haven’t made anything entirely too notable in the kitchen. except for m’s birthday cake: moist dark chocolate cake, layered with fresh strawberries, frosted with nutella buttercream, and adorned with fresh blueberries and strawberries.

no pictures to show for it.
and, i know what you’re thinking: fail.

trust me when i say it was perfectly sweet and nutella-y with a punch of bright fruity flavor. if you have any doubts, you can ask m.

L got me this (!!!) for my birthday. it has been on my wishlist for months now. i’ve been searching for something to roll dough on. rolling dough on my countertops never turns out successful. i end up putting parchment paper down, so i don’t lose dough to the counter.

you can look forward to a scone/pie/something made with dough recipe soon. if you have recommendations, let me know. i’m up for the adventure. maybe not croissants. not ready for that commitment yet.

i am ready to recommit to more scrumptious food posts though.
don’t worry, i’m comin’ back full force.

i know it’s been a while. the end of the semester has been a whirlwind, and it has finally slowed down. between end of the year awards banquets, commencement, and transitioning into summer, it has been non-stop.
